If you’re like most residents of our apartments in Alamo Heights, you’re constantly on the lookout for new career opportunities. Luckily, there are plenty of top employers in San Antonio. Whether you’re actively searching for new career opportunities or not, it’s important that you continue to expand your professional network. After all, networking isn’t something that you should stop doing just because you graduated from college. Networking is one of those things that should always have a place in your life. Whether you just graduated or you’ve been working for years, the ability to grow your professional network can help you find more quality job opportunities than you’d be able to find by scouring job search sites.
In the blog post below, we’ll be sharing a few tips that you can use to network more efficiently in 2019 and beyond. Maybe your new year’s resolution is to find a new job, or maybe you just want to see what else is out there. Either way, we think that the tips in the post below will help you make more professional connections!
Let’s get right to the post, shall we? Oh, and when you’re done reading through the blog post below, please feel free to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at Bungalow 09 — the North Central apartments Alamo Heights residents choose for luxury living.
Leverage the power of LinkedIn
Gone are the days of having to go to a networking event just to meet people. Yes, you should still go to networking events whenever possible. No, it’s not your only option. If you know a company you want to work for, or a position that you’d like to have, find people on LinkedIn who work for that company or have that position. Message them and see if you can buy them coffee. Some people might turn you down, but you only need one person to say yes!
Keep in touch with former co-workers
One of the most important rules of professional networking is that you should never burn bridges. The more you can keep in touch — and remain on good terms with — your old coworkers, the more likely it is that they’ll help you find a new job when they join that awesome new start-up company. You might hold grudges against your old boss, but don’t let that mentality seep into your relationships with your old coworkers.
Be the first to follow up
Meeting a potential new network connection is a pointless endeavor if you don’t follow up. After you make a connection at an event, be sure to get some contact info. Then, wait a few days before seeing if they’d like to reconnect over coffee. Make things easy on your new connection. Tell them you’ll come to them or pay for their lunch. They probably won’t have any good reason to meet with you, so you’re going to have to give them one!
