There’s a lot to love about living in San Antonio — especially when you live in apartments in Alamo Heights. If you’re into shopping, you can spend weekend afternoons at some of the best boutiques in the city. For those that love eating at new restaurants, Alamo Heights offers tons of hot new eateries and more open up every month. That’s all well and good, but a lot of people overlook the best thing about living in San Antonio; the great outdoors! Believe it or not, San Antonio is a great city for outdoorsy people. Don’t believe us? Check out the blog below!
In this week’s blog, we’ll be talking about some of the most popular outdoor activities in and around San Antonio. Whether you’re into hiking, biking or wandering around in botanical gardens, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding an outdoor activity to enjoy in the great city of San Antonio.
Now that we’ve gotten the intro out of the way, let’s dive right into this week’s blog post! Oh, and when you’re done reading through this week’s blog, please be sure to share it with your friends. Better yet, share it with some of your neighbors at your community of Alamo Heights apartments!
The signature structure at Comanche Lookout Park is a tower that looks like it was built in England in the 1300s. In fact, it was built in the 1920s. The park itself does have an ancient history though. The Native American tribes that used to control this area used this park’s high elevation as a vantage point when keeping an eye out for other tribes or threats. Now, the park boasts hiking trails and bike trails with tremendous changes in elevation.
The next park on our list doesn’t have nearly the same level of history as Comanche Lookout Park. Phil Hardberger park is fairly new, with brand new structures and trails to boot. The park has playgrounds, sculptures, an urban ecology exhibit and more. If you like your parks to be sparkling clean and filled with amenities, this is the spot for you.
Last but not least, we have the famous San Antonio Botanical Gardens and Conservatory. This conservatory has it all, from desert succulents to tropical rainforests and everything in between. We’ve heard nothing but good things about the Japanese Garden, but the crown jewel of the park is the garden for the blind. It’s worth experiencing for the smells alone.
