With the weather warming up, a lot of residents of our Alamo Heights apartments are getting ready to head out of town this summer. We love San Antonio, but we understand the need to escape the heat and humidity for a week or two. If you’re planning your summer vacation, budget is probably the first thing you’re looking at. It’s fun to plan a trip when you have the money to make it happen. Its less fun to try to make a trip work on a super limited budget.

With that in mind, we thought we’d share this list of helpful financial advice.  As long as you’re committed to your savings goals, there are a lot of ways to save money without forcing yourself to stay in every night. You don’t have to pinch every penny, you just have to remember why you’re saving money in the first place. Most of the tips on this week’s blog are more about changing the way you think about your savings goals, so don’t worry, we’re not going to tell you to set aside half your paycheck every two weeks.

Without further delay, let’s take a look at the list of money-saving tips in this week’s blog! When you’re done reading this post, please be sure to share the link with your friends and neighbors at Bungalow 09 — the North Central apartments San Antonio residents.

Tip #1 — Remind yourself of your goals.

If you’re saving up for a vacation, put a picture of your destination in your car. If you’re saving up for a new computer, watch videos about the new computer as often as you can. By constantly reminding yourself of your savings goals, you can stop yourself from making impulse purchases that put you further away from your savings goals.

Tip #2 — Tell other people about your savings goals.

You’re more likely to stick to your savings plan if you tell other people that you’re on a savings plan. It’s one thing to hold yourself accountable, but it’s another thing to know that other people are holding you accountable. Peer pressure is actually super useful in this scenario, as you won’t want to tell your friends that you didn’t meet your savings goals.

After you tell your friends about your savings goals, consider talking to a professional financial advisor. The fees they charge are often worth the sound savings advice that they offer. They might find ways to save that you never even thought of, which can streamline your savings plan.

Tip #3 — Consider switching bank accounts

Remember when you first signed up for your current bank account? Everything was shiny and new, and the bank probably gave you some money, too. It was amazing, but now the shine has worn off. Your bank isn’t giving you money anymore, so why are you still with them. See if any other banks are offering to give out money for starting new checking accounts, and consider making the switch! Just be sure to put the bonus money into your savings account instead of spending it on a fancy dinner.

Those are all the money-saving tips we’ve got for you this week, residents! We hope you learned some useful savings strategies from this post, and that you achieve all your savings goals in 2018. We’ll be back in a couple weeks with another blog post for y’all, so be sure to bookmark this page so you can easily check it again when the next post goes live.
